31 Days - Day #9- Something You're Proud of in the Past Few Days

Completely unrelated to my shop, my oldest son just accomplished a pretty huge personal goal last weekend. It's a great big milestone in every child's life...extremely exciting for him, and nerve wracking (and expensive) for us as parents.

***My son just received his driver's license!!!***

He went through a month of driver's ed training last summer, spent the past 6 months driving with his learner's permit alongside mom and dad, and now he's passed all the tests and can drive all by his lonesome!
Look how all grown up he looks standing at the counter! I'm rolling my own eyes saying this, but even though he looks like a teenager, the truth is he's still my not so little anymore baby.
And while it's incredibly exciting to watch him go through each new milestone, it's also really scary as a parent to have to learn to let go more and more, esp. when you're so conditioned as a parent for so many years to be VERY protective of your children.
My son is a very good student, and he's incredibly responsible, but it was still kinda hard for both myself and my husband to watch him get into the car earlier tonight, start it up, and drive away...all by himself!
The smile across his face as he drove away was ENORMOUS! We smiled too, and made him promise to call us as soon as he arrived at his destination, which was less than 3 miles away.
We've joked about how much more help he'll be now (running down to the store to grab more milk, taking his siblings to sports practices, etc.) and I'm certainly looking forward to the help. But there's a whole new level of worry I'm gonna have to get used to every time he drives away.

I've always been incredibly proud of him. Man, sometimes being a parent is seriously tough stuff!
