31 Days - Day #10- Songs you Listen to When...

...you are happy, sad, bored, hyped, mad:

Well, the truth is I'm really not a huge music person. It's one of the MANY things my husband and I do NOT have in common (it's ridiculous how totally opposite we are!).

He listens to music constantly, whereas I rarely listen to any music. When I'm driving in my car I'm usually listening to Air 1 radio, which is contemporary Christian rock music. The best part about their station is that I can listen to it along with my kids.

Sometimes I listen to music when I'm running (if I'm running by myself) and typically I try to listen to the fastest Christian rock songs I can find. So typically that means a lot of Skillet (one of my FAVORITE bands!!!), Relient K, Hawk Nelson, TFK, Stellar Kart, etc. Basically anything with a really fast beat to help push me to run faster.

When I'm sad I don't necessarily listen to any music, but one of my favorite sad songs that has helped me in times of great struggle is "In the Waiting" by Greg Long.

Several songs make me think of my husband, like Steven Curtis Chapman's "I Will Be Here" that he sang to me at our wedding, and "We Will Dance" that fits well now that we've been married for almost 17 years. I also think about my husband whenever I listen to a lot of sexy R&B. My husband sings, so I absolutely love to listen to him all the time...his voice is one of his most attractive features and I melt every time I hear him.

My husband thinks of me when he hears "Tough" by Craig Morgan, which closely depicts some of the life issues we've gone through, my busy life as a mom, and as a thyroid cancer survivor (6 years and counting!).

When I'm working around the house, if I'm not listening to Air 1 then I usually turn on 50's & 60's stations on Pandora, because I grew up listening to and LOVING oldies!!!! And I love that this generation of music is something that I can enjoy with my parents. We've had some really fun and memorable oldies sing-a-longs when we get together and those times are very special.
